This Movember I am raising for all the beautiful men in my life and to ensure that my nephews grow up in a space where they know that it’s ok to talk. To me Movember is not just about raising money for mens health it’s about helping to equip all the men out there with the skills and knowledge that they need to be a strong support for those they love going through hard times. I know first hand that being a strong support for those who need it most can seem like an impossible task. Listening really is a skill that I know I struggle with at times. The programs that Movember fund are an integral way of breaking down those ‘masculine’ ways of thinking and let men know that it’s ok to both share openly and actively listen when their brothers need them the most. Starting these conversations at a young age really does shape the way that we think about mens mental health.
